School
I was able to sign up for the courses for my next semester last week.The only bad part about it was that i started way too late.So i dont get the best times for those classes(note to self : Dont be a last minute person),but anyways i have almost finished picking up the courses i will be taking in the coming semester.Alight lets see what i have picked:
1)A mandatory math course - Elementary Probability.
2)Another math course - Applied Linear Algebra.
3)Cosc course - Fundamentals of Data Structures.
4)Yet another Cosc course(what a suprise) - Computer Organization.
5)Undecided as of yet.
I am actually really excited to go back to school after working the entire summer.It will be worse than a vacation but better than working.Any suggestions/comments, please email me at kentville(at)gmail(dot)com.

C# Book
I just purchased C# A Programmer's Introduction from Amazon.I wanted to buy C# How To Program but its so expensive.I wrote an email to Deitel asking them whether a new edition of C# How To Program is in the works.This is a part of the response i got from them,"We are planning a new edition, but it will not be until VS .NET 2005 is available sometime next year. We are awaiting approval for that from our publisher because .NET book sales in general have been quite sluggish".I thought they would never respond to my email,but boy was i suprised.Thank you Mr Deitel for the response.I am crossing my fingers and hope this book will be as good as the other Deitel book i have seen so far.This will be the next book on my list to read,that is after i finish reading C++ How To Program.

Blinkx
From PcWorld "Startup company Blinkx has launched a search tool that compiles on-the-fly lists of Web pages and local hard-drive documents that are relevant to whatever text users are viewing on their screens....Once installed, it indexes documents on the user's hard drive, including e-mail messages and attachments, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. It also points users to five types of online destinations: general Web sites, news sources, multimedia files, Web logs, and products".I just downloaded Blinkx and had it installed on my computer.I am preety impressed so far.Its free for end user and according to the company,it will always be free.So if you are impressed from what you just read,what are you waiting for?Go download it.
P.S The online search tool ain't as impressive as Google's.I did a search for kentville and my page is not in the first page whereas on Google it is.I know i shouldn't judge them from just one search but you be the judge.Let me know if you think the search is better/worse than Google.Also Blinkx only supports IE(atleast for now) which is a setback,since i have stopped using IE(due to the millions of bugs in IE) unless i have to.

How To Keep Your Computer Running Like New
Do you like to have your computer running like new?Just like driving a brand new car whenever you want.Well,I know I do.So this is what I do with my computers and laptop.
First of all I do a clean installation of windows and install all the softwares(Microsoft Office,antivirus,firewall,……)that I need.I also install all the critical updates from WindowsUpdate and reboot as you get that prompt.I also install PartitionMagic which I use to create different partition on my hard drive.This is how I have my harddrive partitioned.I have c(softwares), d(documents), m(Music), b(Backup), etc.After that I install Norton Ghost.Using Ghost I create an image of my c drive.This way whenever I want to go back to a clean installation I just apply the ghost image.
If you do not know how to create image using Norton ghost.Here is a step by step instructions.
1)Start->All Programs->Norton Ghost 2003->Norton Ghost2)Once Norton Ghost is fired up,click Backup.
3)Then follow the wizard.Fyi you can save ghost image either to a file or a disk.I have mine saved to partition b(which i have for backup images).
4)After you have done the wizard,the computer will reboot and it will create the image.
For Restoring to the Clean Image
1)Follow step 1 from previous instruction.2)Then click on Restore.And then follow the wizard.
3)After you have finalized,it will reboot and restore the image.Voila,your computer runs like new.
For more info on how to use Norton Ghost,go to Symantec's Website.
Also to partition your hardrive using Fdisk,there is a guide available from Radified.

C++ How To Program
I have been reading C++ How To Program by deitel.I have only finished chapter 1.I know i am a slow reader but i am getting there.So far my impression of the book.The material is covered from the standpoint of a reader who has little or no knowledge on how to write programs but knows a bit about computer.I find the book very interesting but my problem is i dont dedicate enough time to read this book.This is the first Deitel book i have read and it seems like Deitel has just won over another loyal customer.Anyways i better go back to continue reading otherwise i will finish maybe in about 5 years.I will have update for you(my two loyal readers) as i progress through the book.It could be days or years.We'll see.Do you have a programming book that you think is the best?If so,please leave a comment.
