Who Do You Trust?
Who Do You Trust, the Wiki Or The Reporter? - A taste if it," On Wednesday I posted a story linking to an article suggesting Wikipedia was somehow untrustworthy. While I can understand why, at first, the concept of Wikipedia seemed a little scary to those who hadn't seen it in action, I figured the reporter in question might want to know a few more details about it, and perhaps correct some of his misperceptions."

Temporary Email Add
Ok,so you have to register for an account and you dont want to give them your email address? What do you do?Well, you can sign up for a spam account and give them that email address or you could create a temporary email address using Jetable (not the most appealing name, i know). What you do is go to Jetable's Website and enter in your real email address, choose a time frame that you want the temp email account to be valid(24 hours to 8 days) and Jetable will create an @jetable email address for you. After that use the Jetable email address to register. All email sent to the Jetable address during that timeframe will be forwarded to your email account. This is useful since some websites sends your password to your email address.
UPDATE:Robert recomends Mailinator where you dont even have to give an email address to be forwarded to.You can create a temp email account and come back to check your inbox on their site. Thanks Robert.

MYIE2
I just installed MYIE2 on my computer. For those of you who do not know what MYIE2 is,"MyIE2 is the most powerful and fully customized browser on earth. It can open multiple web pages in just one window, and comes with tons of other nice features".It is not a standalone software,it requires InternetExplorer for it to run.It has tabbed browsing, mouse gestures,ad hunter, skins and much much more. The reason i went hunting for a software that will allow me to use IE with tab browsing is because with the installation of SP2,Mozilla Firefox has become sluggish. When i click on a link,it takes a while before it responds.I am still not sure whats the cause of this.Anybody else experiencing this?
UPDATE:Copied from Make Firefox As Fast As Opera,"I've heard it said, here and other places, that Opera is the fastest browser available. It is fast - there's no denying that - but there are ways to make FireFox render pages every bit as quickly, with just a few easy "tweaks." I had thought these adjustments were pretty well-known, but it's beginning to seem as though they may not be. So I thought it was worthwhile to bring these "hidden settings" more into the light. To get started, type "about:config" in your FireFox address bar. The settings you're looking for are: 1.) network.http.pipelining
2.) network.http.pipelining.firstrequest
3.) network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
4.) network.http.proxy.pipelining
5.) nglayout.ititialpaint.delay Set #1, #2, and #4 to "true". Set #3 to a high number, like 32. Set #5 to 0. Enabling the pipelining features allows the browser to make multiple requests to the server at the same time. The "maxrequests" is the maximum number of requests it will send at once. I've heard that 8 is the most it will send at once, but setting it higher won't hurt, just in case. The initialpaint.delay is the length of time (in milliseconds) after the server response before the browser begins to paint the page. Adjusting those settings will help pages render much faster in FireFox. In fact, my own observations have been that, tweaked in this manner, FireFox will render faster than Opera (and yes, I realize that others may experience different results)."
After optimizing Firefox, its blazing fast.I am not kidding, try it out for yourself.

Spyware Removal Tools
Ok,so you've just found out that your computer has been infested with spyware/adware or you suspect something's wrong with it and when you run your antivirus software, the software doesn't detect any virus(make sure your antivirus definitions is upto date though). What do you do then? This is when i recomend downloading all these softwares and also updating the definitions of each of these programs. Here is my list:
Lavasoft Adaware - Detects most spyware/adware but not all.
Spybot Search And Destroy - detects some spyware/adware that Lavasoft missed.
CWShredder - "A small utility for removing CoolWebSearch (aka CoolWwwSearch, YouFindAll, White-Pages.ws and a dozen other names)".
HijackThis - "HijackThis lists the contents of key areas of the registry and hard drive--areas that are used by both legitimate programmers and hijackers. The program is continually updated to detect and remove new hijacks".
Webroot SpywareSweeper - Thanks Henry for the recomendation.
SpywareBlaster - So after ridding your computer from spyware using the above tools, install this software to "prevent spyware from installing in the first place".
Ok now stop going to those nasty websites(j/k).Let me know of any software that you want me to add to this list.
Also read up on how spyware works.Found via Scoble.

GetMail
I was asked by Zhiyang in the comment section if i " had any experience of transfering your mail from Hotmail to Gmail" using GetMail. So i downloaded it and tested it out.I downloaded the Getmail file and also the Update file.Apparently the update file contains "New Executable And Any Required Files".So i installed the .exe file which i downloaded. When prompted if i want to start GetMail,i said no.After doing that,i unzipped the files in the Update to the default directory c:\program files\paulb\Get Hotmail\Get Mail\.This overwrites some file that was in the directory. After that was done,i started GetMail. There should be an icon on your taskbar.Right click on it and choose "Mail Settings".Put in your Hotmail account name, password and the email address you want to forward to in their respective field.I have sent a few emails to my hotmail account and the email was forwarded to my GMail account.I did not get "incorrect credentials" that Zhiyang experienced.I have not tried the "Mail Migrate"feature as of yet.The only thing that i have tried is forwarding new email that i receive on my hotmail account to a GMail account.
From GetMail FAQ - I've downloaded GetMail but no mail appears to be forwarded (0 messages)?
Some Ad-Blockers etc will stop GetMail from working. This is because the first reponse from the Hotmail servers is a redirection that some software blocks. If you are not running this type of software then you must make sure that you have entered your correct hotmail address, correct hotmail password and correct forward to address. If these 3 are correct there is no reason for GetMail to not forward on mail. If you are sure there are correct check the errorlog.txt file in the install directory.

Installed XP SP2
I just finished installing XP SP2 (Download Link is From Microsoft).I have some screenshots on my moblog. The installation was a breeze. So far there has been no issues with it.From Neowin.Net,"On the first run, Microsoft also loads up the new Security Center (screenshot). The Security Center monitors your Antivirus, Firewall, and Auto Update situation. If it detects anything that is potentially damaging or hazardous, it will prompt you with a warning and give you advice on how to resolve the issue. Microsoft has saved a lot of hassle for users in that if you have Zone Alarm installed, they leave the Windows Firewall off to prevent conflicts (screenshot). Internet Explorer has been updated (screenshot) and the new features seem helpful. As well as a new version of IE, Outlook Express, Microsoft's free mail client bundled with Windows has been updated with better protection against email spread viruses and worms. I spent a few hours using the improved browser and it does seems somewhat nippier than before. With additions like pop-up blocking, IE becomes a slightly more attractive prospect. However, it still lacks features like tabbed browsing and standards compliancy that make some of the new features moot points. To really start winning back people, Microsoft need to get IE 7 out the door with these features (Before longhorn though?). I'd like to say i was impressed, but IE in SP2 is playing catch up, not adding features."To read more about it,visit Neowin's Website.
UPDATE: Since i first installed SP2 on a computer that uses an ethernet cable to connect to the internet,i was not aware of this problem. But when i installed it on the laptop,i could no longer connect to my wireless network.Cant figure out whats wrong. So right now i am doing system restore on the laptop and hopefully find a solution in the near future.Thats my only issue, atleast for now.
Link To Order XP SP2 Cd(Available later this summer).
